Robert McClure has
served as the Santa Rosa County Tax Collector since 2000. He received his
primary, and secondary, education in the Santa Rosa County School system,
graduating from Milton High School in 1970. Robert was a successful
businessman in residential construction
and property development for 21 years. Robert has quickly become known as
an innovator within his office by improving customer service, and being
willing to meet the challenges of growth within our community.
Since taking office Robert has opened a new Pace office to better
meet the needs of this community, and he is always looking for new ways to
meet the demands of our expected future growth. Robert has worked on the
development of this new website, which is designed not only to meet your
needs within our office but also to serve as your gateway to Santa Rosa
County.
Robert has started the practice of accepting credit cards both in the
office, and over the Internet. Robert also was one of the first
tax collectors in the country to pilot a program to accept payment by
integrated voice recognition (IVR) which allows us to accept credit cards
for tax payments over the telephone.
Robert and his family are active members of the First Baptist
Church of Milton. Some of Robert's other community involvements include
working with the Milton High School Quarterback club [two terms as
President], a former member of the Avalon Middle School advisory council,
a member of the Tax Collector's Association and the State Tax Collector's
Service Corporation. Robert is also a member of the Santa Rosa County
Chamber of Commerce. Robert is an avid outdoorsman and is proud to have
been selected by his peers to serve on the Florida Fish and Wildlife
Conservation Committee of the Tax Collector's of the State of Florida .
Robert's wife, Tonya, has been a 5th grade teacher in the Santa
Rosa County School system for twenty six years at Bagdad Elementary
School. Tonya is originally from the beautiful, and historic, village of
Bagdad. Robert and Tonya have two beautiful daughters, Meghan and Katie.
Robert and Tonya have a vested interest in seeing Santa Rosa County grow
in population and achievement. They both know that this is accomplished
socially and economically by planning for growth, and by being proactive
in meeting the needs of that growth. They want the same opportunities for
their daughters that they have been blessed to have by growing up in Santa
Rosa County. Robert knows that we have leaders who currently serve Santa
Rosa County proudly, and leaders who are being developed who will lead our
county through the 21st Century!
Both Robert and Tonya are proud Santa Rosa residents who have
seen the exponential growth of our community over the past 40 years. This
history gives them a view of the past, a sense of the present, and a
vision for the future.
