What is the Santa Rosa Sports Newsletter?
The SRC (Santa Rosa County) Sports Newsletter was started back in
2002 by Robert G. McClure. It was created to promote the, then new,
sports section of robertmcclure.com. The newsletter is still used to
promote our sports section, however it has expanded to include tidbits
of news and information found throughout our sports section.

Milton Volleyball looking strong
As football team struggles.

Welcome to Issue #76 of the Santa Rosa County sports newsletter,
our third issue this season.
I hope everything is going well for everyone. Keep an eye out for
some major changes to the website, which should be coming up within
the next few months. Until then, everything's still the same (and
utterly fantastic I might add), so get on over and check out the

Our biggest story so far this Volleyball season has been the Milton
Panthers. As of Tuesday (9/15), Milton sat at 4-1 overall on the
season after winning just 6 total games in 2007. Led by veteran
Caleigh Drinkard, this Panther team has a different swagger and is
already eyeing that September 29th rematch with Washington. Central,
after winning two games last season, is already off to a better
start under first year head coach Melissa Baxley as they have gotten
off to a 3-2 start and get district play underway on Tuesday night
(9/16). Keep an eye out for our Santa Rosa County Volleyball teams
this season, with Football taking most of the spotlight away, you
may miss some of the best volleyball in the area. Keep checking back
over at the
MAIN SITE where you
can find daily updated scores and stats!
As Milton's Volleyball team has gotten off to a fantastic start,
the Panther football team may be the biggest story in the area right
now as they have struggled badly in their first two games. One of
the area's biggest powers for years has gotten off to an 0-2 start,
being outscored in their first two games of the season, 85-7. They
will look for their first win this Friday night as a struggling
Washington teams makes the trip to Haywood Hanna. Navarre and 9th
ranked Pace both chalked up their first wins of the year in week
two, winning their respective non-district matchups as they both
prepare for BIG matchups in week three. The (9)Patriots will look to
contain Trent Richardson, who ripped his way to a ridiculous 419
yards and 6 touchdowns against the Panthers last week, while Navarre
will look face a tough Catholic team in their first road game of the
season. Jay and Gulf Breeze will both look to bounce back from tough
losses in week two and the Dolphins will be facing off with the Tate
Aggies as they try to find that eluding first win of the year. All
scores, stats and polls are available over at the

Our Santa Rosa County Volleyball teams get tipped off tonight as they all
begin their annual quest for a district championship. Our last
county Volleyball district champion came by way of Pace High
School back in 2004, but look for the drought to end this year as
four new head coaches will be pacing the courts and look to make
changes. Keep checking back daily for the latest scores and stats.

Again, I'd like to announce our new blog over at the Santa Rosa Press
Gazette's website, which is located
HERE. I'll be updating it today with a rant about the FSWA, so
it might be worth a read. Not sure if it's getting a lot of views, so at
least go read it every once in a while and "flatter" me, if you
don't mind.
Our Football Pick'EM contest is breaking
records left and right. Both weeks have seen over 50 submissions,
making winning all the more prestigious. Congratulations to Carl
Pippen, the week two winner from Pace, who was the lone entry to
pick all four games correctly. Jay falling victim to a stout Vernon
defense seemed to be the Achilles heel for everyone picking...me
included. Visit our hall of fame by clicking the
corresponding button on the right hand side of the main
pick'em page. (Make sure your
pop-up) blockers are turned off.
I'd also like to say, thank you for all of the support and praise
emails I receive every week. We try to do this for the kids and the
community so it's nice to know the word is starting to spread about
our little corner of the web.
As always, if you have any comments or suggestions, please let us know.
You can contact me (Bryan Hathaway, Webmaster/Graphic Designer of
the site) at 850.983.1824 or via e-mail (bhathaway@srctc.com).
We put a lot of hard work into the site and am ALWAYS looking for
ways to improve, so don't hesitate to shoot me an email and let me
know what you think.
Thank you for all of your help and support of our Santa Rosa County
Sports website and for making us your number one resource for Santa
Rosa Sports information. |
