Both teams came into Monday night's regular season matchup ranked among the state's top ten in their respective classes for the first time in years, but Monday night's Central vs Jay matchup turned out to be one-sided as the defending Regional champions from Jay rolled to a big 12-4 win over their cross town neighbors.
The Royals jumped out to an early 3-0 lead and never looked back, cruising to 12 runs off of 7 hits while taking advantage of 3 defensive miscues by the Jags.
Jay's Nick Simpson continues his tremendous year as he earned another win on the mound for the Royals, giving up 3 earned runs off of 9 hits while striking out 4 in his six innings on the mound.
Central's Logan Campbell was charged with the loss as he finished having given up 12 runs off of 11 hits while striking out 4 in his complete-game, seven inning performance.
Brandt Hendricks took one deep for a two-run shot for the Royals, while Logan Campbell tattooed his first deep-ball of the season for the Jags on the evening.
Both teams will head into their regular season finales next as Central will head to 2A Baker on Friday night (4/18) and Jay hosts Flomaton on Tuesday night (4/15).
