West Florida has escaped the clutches of many 1-4A teams this season to wrap up the #1 seed in the district and they weaseled their way out of another loss on Thursday night as Gulf Breeze took them to 10 innings, but couldn't come away with the win as West Florida stole a 7-6 win.
The Dolphins took a 6-5 lead heading into the bottom of the sixth inning, when the Jags tied things up, sending it into extras. West Florida was awarded the win in the bottom of the tenth, when a sacrifice fly deep to center scored the winning run.
Thomas Dorsey was charged with the tough luck loss for the Dolphins as he gave up just 2 hits and one earned run while striking out three in his three 1/3 innings pitched.
Gulf Breeze will now shift focus to non-district play as they host Glenwood Academy on Tuesday night (3/25).
