Christmas Break all Royals needed

Bryan Hathaway

After having dropped three straight just before the Christmas Break, the Royals were happy to see the Christmas/Winter break approach and the much needed time off.

It apparently helped, because the Royals came out on Monday night at Aletheia Christian firing on all cylinders as Jay rolled past the non-district foe 69-26 on the road.

Jay jumped out to a 22-7 lead at the end of the first quarter and never looked back, calling off the dogs after taking a 56-14 lead into the locker room at the half.

Greg Nelson had another tremendous game for the Royals, putting up an impressive 31 points on the evening, while teammate Rush Hendricks finished with 12 on the night.

Jay will look take their momentum into the second half of their district schedule, starting with Freeport on Thursday night (1/10). The Royals will take to the road to face the Bulldogs for the first time this season in an all important district matchup.
